With the flagship G6, LG delivered a beautiful smartphone with a unique screen ratio and resolution.
For those after the same level of style and build quality, but with perhaps less demanding requirements, the Q6 offers the same visual experience at a more affordable cost.
Slimmed down in both size and weight from the flagship G6 model, the new LG Q6 offers one-handed operation to most people.
The machined aluminium finish looks every bit a premium design. The 7000 series aluminium has been manufactured with an H-Beam construction for additional support that will withstand the knocks and rigours of daily use.
Everything is complemented perfectly by the expansive FullVision display and near bezel-free edge. With a unique 18:9 ratio, the screen can be split into two equal squares. This offers up creative interfaces in several system applications. The camera has neat side-by-side display options, as do contacts, calendar and messages.
On the back of the Q6 is a high-quality 13-megapixel camera. This utilises a 1/3" sensor and 1.12 µm pixels for exceptional low-light quality images in this specification tier.
The front camera is equally impressive. An improved 100° wide angle lens lets you capture a much wider scene; great for group selfies or when you want to capture an expansive background or landmark. You can also swap this to a normal angle for closer, more personal portraits.
GIFs are the new emoji. Popular keyboard extensions have made finding the perfect clip to express an emotion easier than ever. But what about making things more personal?
With the GIF Maker, you can create a quick GIF using the burst mode in the Q6 camera or by linking together pictures in your gallery.
Square Camera Mode
Thanks to the 18:9 screen ratio, some interesting split screen shooting options are available in the camera software. Thanks to this ratio, the screen can be split into two exact squares.
The side-by-side operation gives you access to the following features: Snap Shot, Match Shot, Grid Shot and Guide Shot.
With Snap Shot, you can take a new picture on the top square, while previewing the gallery simultaneously on the bottom square.
Match shot will allow you to select a picture from your gallery on the bottom square. You can then align the top square to take a new picture, stitching the two together.
Take 4 shots in a row, with Grid Shot putting all 4 into a single square image. Great for a mini series image.
Select up to 4 previous pictures with Guide Shot, then use these to help you align the new image so it mimics the style and composition of your last photos.
New facial recognition technology allows you to unlock the Q6 without using a password, PIN or pattern. Simply lift the Q6 and look into the selfie camera.
More convenient than other unlock methods, facial recognition takes you directly to the home screen in an instant.
Previously available only on a very limited range of smartphones, Google Assistant is now working its way through the mid range tier.
LG Q6 has the AI assistant built into the LG UI, so it's never more than a tap or spoken command away.
Google Assistant will respond to direct questions with online search results, and where possible, with links or app suggestions.
